DREAM STREET
The Story
Camp Dream Street offers a camping
adventure to children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses
including cancer, AIDS and blood disorders. The camp is available to
children currently receiving treatment. Children attending the camp are
given the opportunity to enjoy activities they are normally restricted
from due to their illnesses.
Camp Dream Street welcomes children requiring constant medical
treatment. The camp has a complete medical staff on hand to spend
endless hours with any child that has special needs. This allows the
children to experience “camp” the way a child should. The volunteer
counselors at the camp are there to enhance the experience and share the
joy with the children.
Camps are operated in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Mississippi and New
Jersey. The volunteers have extensive expertise in working with children
with special medical needs. These amazing volunteers spend the entire
week tending to the children’s needs and dreams. They make sure that the
children smile from sun up to lights out.
Dream Street brings the dream of normal childhood activities to reality
for these children. It is an environment in which no child sits on the
sidelines or has to worry about being different.
The week- long camp is FREE OF CHARGE to those attending. Operated
entirely by volunteers, the staff includes counselors, medical personnel
and administrators who all donate their time.
The goal of Camp Dream Street is to provide each child with a wonderful
camp experience.
